Inari Saami media

Since 1988, the Association has been publishing the Anarâš magazine, which serves as the Association’s membership magazine. One of its issues is the Anarâš calendar, which has already become a classic. Each year, the calendar features a theme requested by the Association’s members.

Starting from March 2023, the Association has been publishing Anarâš aavis, an Inari Saami language online publication. It is the only Saami-language newspaper in Finland, and it is updated at least three times a week.

The Association maintains and promotes the Inari Saami Wikipedia. The Association also organizes a few Wikipedia workshops annually.

From 2018 to 2023, the Association published Loostâš, a youth magazine, which has been integrated into Anarâš aavis starting from January 2024.

From 2007 to 2011, the Association published the Kierâš magazine. The magazines are available here.

Literature

The Inari Saami Language Association publishes literature in Inari Saami.

From 2015 to 2021, the Association implemented the “100 Writers for Inari Saami” project, which has produced both translated literature and new original literature in the Inari Saami language. In recent years, the Association has focused particularly on youth literature because developing the language skills of young people has been a topical issue, and there has been a lack of reading material in Inari Saami for the youth.

A list of literature published by the Inari Saami Language Association can be found here.
